The following materials used to accomplish this study are: 10 pcs. of Aubergine, 500ml of clean water, bowl, 2 plastic jars (any size that can fit to guava), small pot, 2 guavas, knife and strainer.
Before proceeding, it is required to wash your hands to prevent the spread of bacteria/germs that may affect the fruit preservation. The Aubergines and guavas were washed with clean water.
The peel of 10 Aubergines were removed and placed in a container. The sliced S. Melongena (Aubergine) skins and 500ml of clean water were transferred in a small pot and placed in a stove. The 500ml of clean water were boiled in 10 minutes to get its extract. The Aubergine extract were transferred in a bowl, the 2 guavas were soaked all over with S. melongena skin extract as wax for about 1 minute then placed and stored inside the jars .
To conduct the study, 2 jars were prepared. Set A with 1 jar containing 1 guava with an Aubergine skin extract as wax on it, Set B with also 1 jar containing 1 guava without the extract. All the jars were observed up to 3 – 4 weeks by qualitative observation. The data and observation were written on a record book.
